Homemade hydroponics nutrient solution made from a list of chemicals is easy to make...as long as you are a chemist. I am not a chemist and aside from mixing some organic ingredients together, I do not make my own nutrient solution. It takes a certain amount of specialized knowledge as well as equipment to properly analyze, measure and mix chemicals. In this website I have included a couple of 'mix your own' recipes which give you the chemicals needed for a homemade nutrient mixture. Please scuse me but i am interested in a home made solution for onions. I have all the ingredients (chemicals). I asked you about two months ago and you write the same answer, nothing clear. I wait for a recipe like 10 g sodium nitrate, 4 g potassium sulphate...etc. Thank you.

A nutrient solution for green onions can be summed up in one word....nitrogen. Onions in general use large quantities of nitrogen to produce top growth as well as roots. If you are using hydroponics, stick with a general coverage hydroponics fertilizer and change the nutrient water at least once every 2 weeks. Or you can use a blend of fish emulsion, seaweed extract and blood meal in quantities that escape me right now but the recipe is in this website. If you have a conventional garden use the normal 10-10-10 fertilizer with a small addition of nitrogen a few weeks after planting - ammonium sulphate is a good choice.
