Hydroponics is exremely safe
by: Larry, Webmaster

Hi Lovish, all forms of hydroponic systems are extremely safe to work with...there are no harsh chemicals or noxious fumes involved. The only danger I really see is the use of electricity mostly for hydroponic pumps and since nutrient solution is nearby I suppose that could be a danger. I run an extension cord from my garage to my greenhouse to power all my pumps and have had no problem besides an accident with a semi-submersible pump.

To be really safe, all electrical equipment should be plugged into a GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter) which automatically cuts power whenever a 'short' in the line is detected.

This may have been an unnecessarily long answer but the short version is...'hydroponics is very safe to work with'.
