Has anyone used LED (light emitting diode) Grow Lights? They are still rather new but promise to use a lot less power than conventional grow lights. Originally developed and tested in the space station I see they're finally being marketed now to the general public. Anyone have any experience with them?

I like LED for my Orchids, the amount of Lumens reaching their leaves can be acheived with LEDs at about 1/4 the wattage of HIDs and they are now much less expensive, generate about 1/10 the heat (you can touch them anytime) and also last about 20 times as long as ANY light source that uses a bulb.

I see Hydroponic LED grow lights all over now but they seem to use the same power as other more conventional lighting? Is this true?
