Do spiders harm plants

I have a problem with my garden. I have some kind of spiders because I've seen spider webs on the plant but no spiders - do plants suffer from spiders?

Spiders on Plants
by: Larry the Webmaster

Do spiders harm plants...it depends.

If you have spider mites then you need to get rid of them quickly because they spread fast and will eventually kill your plants (check out the 'Plant Pests' link).

If you have regular spiders then they are a good thing because they eat bugs including the bugs that will hurt your plant.

If your plants are indoors then chances are you have spider mites. If they are outdoors you may have either regular spiders or mites.

Both will leave a web except that spider mites are microscopic red, yellow or green bugs and can barely be seen. Regular spiders are large enough to be easily seen.

So that's it...regular spiders are good; but for spider mites, get rid of them quickly.
